Despite being most famous for its snow season, Lake Mountain Alpine Resort offers activities for families, adventurers, and Wildflower enthusiasts throughout the year.
Lake Mountain Alpine Resort is the closest alpine snow resort to Melbourne, just a 2-hour drive away. It offers over 35 km of cross-country skiing trails and various activities for snow newcomers. The resort aims to make it accessible for people of all ages and abilities to visit at any time of the year and enjoy outdoor adventures.
In the snow season, Lake Mountain transforms into a winter wonderland with activities for the whole family. Enjoy designated snow play areas, and toboggan runs for a fun experience. You can also try snowshoeing at a slower pace, with lessons and guided tours available through our Snowsports Department. Snow gear and equipment can be hired for your convenience.
Snowboard lessons are offered for children ages 5-14, while cross-country ski lessons are available for individuals ages four and older.
After the snow melts, the mountain becomes a colourful landscape with wildflowers blooming. Guided Wildflower walks are available from November to January.
A new single-track mountain bike trail called the Cascades was completed in 2019 at Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, running from the resort village to Marysville.

Lake Mountain is a year-round destination near the Yarra and Goulburn valleys. The resort has skiing lessons, beginners snowboarding park, tobogganing, and activities like a flying fox and tube ride. There is also 30 km of groomed cross-country skiing. Visitors can enjoy bushwalking, mountain biking, picnics, and nature walks at the resort in warmer months.
Equipment hire
The starting price for ski packages is $40 per adult or child, including skis, boots, and poles. Snowshoe packages, which include boots and poles, start at $25 for children and $35 for adults. Toboggan packages, which include a toboggan, pants, and boots, start at $50 for children and $60 for adults. If you want to rent a sled, it is $14 per day.

Accommodation options are easily accessible in Lake Mountain's surrounding towns and villages. Visitors can choose from budget-friendly caravan and holiday parks starting at $95 per night or middle-range, self-contained lakeside cottages in Healesville and Marysville for around $200 per night.
Woodlands Rainforest Retreat in Narbethong is a 30-minute from Lake Mountain and offers luxurious accommodations. Amenities include an in-ground jet spa, balcony views, fireplaces, minibar, and in-room kitchens.
